Cloud forest, a foggy mountain, and an emerald lake — three places that ask nothing of you
Space to hear yourself think
Unhurried corners of the world where stillness becomes the point.

🔭 Viewpoints
Cerro de la Muerte
Leave San José at 4am to reach the pass at first light. The resplendent quetzals move along the treeline above the road in the hour after sunrise. If clouds come in early, the forest walk alone is still worth the drive.

🥾 Hiking
San Gerardo de Dota
One hour south on the Interamericana into San Gerardo de Dota. The valley trail is unhurried — this is the kind of walk that asks you to slow down. Three hours minimum. Cold at altitude: 6–10°C.

🥾 Hiking
Poás Volcano NP
Three hours north back through the Central Valley to Poás Volcano. The crater lake is the quiet counterpart to the busy main summit. A 30-minute loop around its edge, mostly in silence.
