Welcome to Avora. By creating an account or using the Avora platform (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). Please read them carefully. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. About Avora

Avora is a travel discovery platform. We help users find, save, and share extraordinary places — from waterfalls and viewpoints to cultural experiences and hidden cafés. The Service is operated by Avora ("we", "us", "our").

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. By using Avora, you represent that you meet this requirement and that all information you provide is accurate and complete.

3. Your Account

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at hello@avora.guide if you suspect unauthorized access. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. User-Generated Content

You may submit reviews, place contributions, photos, and other content ("Content") to the Service. By submitting Content, you:

• Grant Avora a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to display, reproduce, and distribute your Content on the Service.
• Confirm that your Content is accurate, does not infringe any third-party rights, and complies with these Terms.
• Agree not to submit Content that is false, defamatory, harmful, or in violation of any applicable law.

We reserve the right to remove Content at our discretion, including Content that we determine to be inaccurate, harmful, or in violation of these Terms.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Scrape, crawl, or systematically extract data from the Service without our written permission.
• Use automated bots or scripts to interact with the Service.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service or its underlying infrastructure.
• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in a way that could harm Avora, other users, or third parties.
• Impersonate any person or entity or falsely claim affiliation with any person or entity.

6. Journeys and Saved Places

You may create personal journeys and save places to your account. Public journeys you create may be visible to other users. You can change a journey's visibility to private at any time. We do not guarantee the permanent availability of saved content — always keep independent records of itineraries important to your safety or travel plans.

7. Third-Party Services

The Service uses third-party providers including Mapbox (maps), Supabase (data storage), and Google (sign-in). Your use of these features is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices of these providers.

8. Intellectual Property

All original content, design, and software comprising the Service — excluding user-generated content — is owned by or licenced to Avora. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our content without our express written permission. The Avora name and logo are trademarks of Avora.

9. Disclaimers

Location information, opening hours, ratings, and directions on Avora are provided for informational purposes and may not always be accurate or up to date. Always verify conditions before visiting a location, particularly for natural sites that may involve physical risk (waterfalls, hiking trails, beaches). We are not responsible for any injury, loss, or damage arising from your visit to any location featured on the Service.

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Avora shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms shall not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the past 12 months or USD $10.

11. Termination

You may delete your account at any time from your profile settings. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time for any reason, including violation of these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email (if you have an account) or by posting a notice on the Service. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Costa Rica, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Costa Rica.
