Frames worth keeping
Dramatic landscapes that seem to know when you're watching. Volcanic peaks catching cloud at altitude. The Pacific going still at dusk. These are the places where the visual register is consistently, almost unreasonably, high.
Peaceful
Still, quiet, unhurried
Quiet places where mornings linger and time moves at a different pace. A highland soda open at 5am for farmers, not travellers. A thermal pool empty on a Tuesday morning. These places don't manufacture quiet — they just have it.
Adventurous
Go in headfirst
The waterfall that requires a river crossing to reach. The summit that clears just as you arrive. These places ask something of you — and they reward it.
Reflective
Space to hear yourself think
A cloud forest trail where the mist makes every turn a small mystery. A mountain pass where you're above the clouds and the rest of the world has temporarily ceased to be your concern. Places that don't ask you to do anything except pay attention.
Romantic
Made for two
A guesthouse with a view neither of you planned for. A thermal pool at dusk found by following a footpath. These places don't manufacture atmosphere. They have it already.
Wild
Untamed, raw, elemental
Some beaches don't have names. Some rivers don't have maps. The jungle beyond certain points doesn't owe you anything. Costa Rica still has those places. These are the ones we found.
